Are you an aspiring writer? Do you have a book you’ve been dreaming of publishing? Have you written a book and don’t know what to do next? Do you think you need an agent and/or publisher? Don’t have time? It’s a lot easier these days and FREE. And in the past few years I have self-published 14 fiction and non-fiction books. Let me show you how you can publish a book in one day. First of all you need your manuscript completed, edited, and paginated—exactly the way you want it.
You’ve heard of Amazon, right? Go to their sister site, createspace.com, open an account and get started. Use their guided method. Input your title, subtitle, all the necessary information for the book. Select a blank template size for your book. Download it on to your computer. Open the template, copy and paste your manuscript into the template and ‘save as’. You may have to do some editing. Upload it (pdf or .doc). Proof it and when you’re satisfied, send it for review. Get the free ISBN number.
In the meantime start on the cover. You can pay to have it designed or DIY (I love this part). There are several templates to use adding photos, your bio, logo, change the background color, font, etc. (I usually select 2 designs, and wait for a while (Maybe a day) and come back to make a final decision.
Then you can determine the price of your book, remember, createspace will keep a cut, but they do have marketing and distribution suggestions. You also have an option to put your book into Kindle format (You do need an account.) You will have a chance to download a proof, or do it online.
After you publish it, you can go back and make changes.
Bingo! You are a published author! . And you did it for free and a little time. It will take a few days for it to show up on Amazon. Customers can order on demand. You don’t have to keep any stock. If you do, you pay author’s prices.
